CARE COACHING
WHAT IS CARE COACHING?
- One-to-one: Each Care Coach is matched with one care receiver of the same gender. The two meet in person, typically once a week for about an hour.
- Peer: Care Coaches are well-trained, supervised volunteers who provide a high level of care. We are not professional caregivers—but we are members of the church body, ready to walk with you through difficult times.
- Christian: A Care Coach’s care is an expression of Christ’s love and an extension of the pastoral care of this congregation. When it comes to spiritual matters, Care Coaches meet you where you are, ensuring that you are not walking through this difficult time alone.
- Care: We offer emotional and spiritual support through difficult times as we listen, pray, support, and encourage.
WHAT IS CARE COACHING?
“[My care coach] doesn’t judge me or tell me what to do but walks side by side with me. I never realized how helpful and healing that can be."
- Brian
“They’re going to hold your hand the whole way. If you want to talk with them, you can. If you just want to sit there and cry, that’s fine. If you want prayer, they’ll pray, but they’re not going to come and hit you over the head with a Bible.”
- Mary
“I’d been struggling with some spiritual wounds that were pretty intense and needed healing. To go from fear of judgment to a positive affirmation of care, empathy, and even sorrow for what I’d been through. It was so meaningful. That’s when I began to feel God’s love again.”

WHAT IS CARE COACHING?
Our Care Coaches are members of VC Family Church who have been trained to walk alongside others who are going through life challenges like:
- Medical crisis & grief
- Personal & spiritual crisis
- Job loss, and more...
They offer confidential care, support, and encouragement through tough times.
We come from a wide variety of backgrounds and life experiences but share a passion for bringing Christ’s love and care to one another.
We have experienced the healing power of the love of God through the people of God, and seek to be a community that cares for one another well.

OUR VISION
WE WANT TO SEE EACH PERSON WITHIN THE BODY OF CHRIST EMPOWERED TO CARE FOR OTHERS, AS WELL AS BE CARED FOR BY OTHERS.
RECEIVE CARE
Are you in need of care? We all have seasons of suffering and struggle but you do not have to go through it alone. A Care Coach will meet with you one-on-one for about an hour a week for as long as you need.
Common challenges include:
-- Personal & spiritual crisis
- Major life transitions
- Grief & health issues
- Caregiver fatigue, etc.
If you would like care for yourself or to refer someone else, reach out to us at carecoach@vcfamily.org.

GIVE CARE
Care Coaches receive in-depth training in Christian caregiving skills which cover topics such as empathy, confidentiality, active listening, distinctively Christian care, and crisis theory.
After they begin providing care, Care Coaches continue to meet twice a month for continuing education and supervision as they strive to offer the highest-quality Christian caregiving.
If you are interested in becoming a care coach you can contact our leadership team at carecoach@vcfamily.org for more information about joining our next training cohort.
