VC KIDS 8.23.26 Update
Hello, VC Family!
Mister Brown here. If you’ve been around VC for a while, you probably already know me. But if you’re new, I’m Mister. Brown — first name Mister, last name Brown.
I have the privilege of serving with our VC Kids Sunday School, and I wanted to give you a quick update on what your kids are learning.
Now that Vacation Bible School and our Heroes series are finished, we’re jumping back into our series:
Five Promises of God You Can Hold On To
Why “hold on to”?
Because God makes promises, and God keeps His promises.
We want our kids not only to know these truths, but to have something from God’s Word they can hold on to as they grow.
The Five Promises
We have a hand motion for each promise to help the kids remember them:
1. God saves me.
2. God stays with me.
3. God loves me.
4. God forgives me.
5. God welcomes me.
Ask your kids to show you the motions!
So far, we have covered our first two promises.
Promise #1: God Saves Me
We’ve expanded this promise to help the kids understand what salvation means:
God saves me and makes me His child.
Our memory verse is John 1:12.
We want the kids to understand that salvation isn’t simply God helping us become better people. Through faith in Jesus, God brings us into His family.
Promise #2: God Stays With Me
Our second promise is:
God stays with me and will not give up on me.
Our memory verse is Hebrews 13:5.
What a great truth for our kids to learn early: God doesn’t abandon His children when life is difficult or even when we make bad choices. He is faithful.
Coming Next: God Loves Me
Our next promise will be:
God loves me.
We’ll begin exploring what the Bible teaches about God’s love and what it means for our everyday lives.

A Film to Watch Together:
Forevergreen
This Sunday, August 23, we also watched a beautiful animated short film called Forevergreen.
It tells the story of an orphaned bear cub who finds a home with a fatherly evergreen tree. As the story continues, the bear makes some poor choices and gets himself into trouble—but the tree’s commitment to him doesn’t disappear.
It gave us a great picture to talk about some of the truths behind our Five Promises.
Watch it together as a family
After you watch, ask your kids:
“Where did you see one of the Five Promises in the story?”
You might even go through all five:
Where do you see someone being saved or rescued?
Where do you see someone staying when things become difficult?
Where do you see love?
Where do you see forgiveness?
Where do you see someone being welcomed or brought into a family?
The movie isn’t Scripture, of course, but it can give you a great starting point for a conversation about the truths we are learning from Scripture.

Thank You, VC Family
Parents, thank you for bringing your kids to VC Kids and giving us the opportunity to partner with you. We want to help kids learn to live for God by connecting faith and life—not simply knowing Bible truths on Sunday, but learning how those truths shape how they live every day.
Keep practicing those Five Promises:
God saves me. God stays with me. God loves me. God forgives me. God welcomes me.
God keeps His promises.
